28 Feb 2026 / no comments
You heard right: PEAK is finally available online and in stores at Cable & Co, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this collection with you!
Founded in 1989, the brand was built on the belief that everyone deserves to reach their personal peak. This playful nod towards their namesake continues to inform their designs. Engineering professional-grade sports footwear for athletes and fitness enthusiasts, this brand is beloved for its reliable, durable, and trendy designs.
So, now that you’re adding PEAK road running shoes to your shopping list, here’s some helpful insight to consider when choosing your pair and beginning your running program.
We had a chat with personal trainer, Siba, who gave us some excellent tips on good running practices.
Meet Siba Philip, Elite Personal Trainer
Since the young age of 10 years old, Siba enjoyed being active. Growing up with a twin brother who shared his love for exercising, Siba participated in a variety of sports, including rugby, athletics, cross country and cricket.

His dream of one day becoming an athlete is what set him on this path of fitness. At just 16 years old, he was in the gym from Monday to Friday, training hard. By 19, he began his personal training career.
“Being a personal trainer and pursuing a career where I get to help others improve their health & fitness is a dream job for me, and I am currently loving every moment of it.”
Currently, Siba is an Elite personal trainer at Virgin Active Humewood. He offers both single and group coaching sessions.
Here’s what he shared with us when asked about training tips for road runners.
1. What are some common mistakes you often see runners make that lead to injury?
I often find that new runners tend to neglect strength training. A strong body can last longer anywhere, given any terrain and with running, I think there’s a misconception about the idea of strength training and that it’s not just for a fellow gym goer or bodybuilder, it’s really to improve overall strength and fitness, so that you can carry your body through short and long running distances.
Some strength exercises that I like to focus on when training runners are:
1. Single-leg Kettlebell lunges to strengthen the single quad and overall legs,
2. Farmers carry, as this strengthens your posture/core and overall balance
3. A variety of core exercises to help maintain good running posture
2. What are some non-negotiable warm-ups for running?
Dynamic stretching all the way! With dynamic stretching, you prepare your body for what’s to come, you release blood flow and joint mobility to help you run better and more comfortably. An example of dynamic stretching is leg swings, high knee marching and a knee to chest stretch.
3. Can you explain the importance of cross-training for running?
The importance of cross-training for running is so beneficial as it provides you with overall training that will boost your overall fitness and endurance. The mixture of different training methods allows your body to be more versatile, and at the end of the day, that helps build confidence in you.
I always recommend swimming laps in the pool, as this boosts your cardio while rejuvenating your body.

4. Would you say that running shoes influence injury prevention?
Yes, most certainly. You have to have a good pair of running shoes, especially if you run in different terrains and environments. You can’t just pick any shoe; it has to be one that is comfortable for the environment that you are running in.
5. If you’ve had a chance to try out your PEAK’s, can you tell us how you’ve used them and what you enjoy most about them so far?
Man! I have a couple of favourite pairs! My favourite pair is the Tarmac UP30 Running shoe, which gives me a lot of height, and it also has a very thick sole.
Not just for running, but during a long day in the gym, I prefer to wear them because they are also so comfortable and soft. The Glideo-Training shoe is also amongst my favourites because it has a slick look and also looks athletic at the same time.
